The Training.
- Join a kick-off - there will be a couple different opportunties to join the volunteer team. First Training is scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2 - 5 PM at the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, CO. The second kick-off training option is Sunday, October 3, 2-5 PM, place to be determined, Denver, CO. Personalize your learning by selecting trainings that interest you and fit your schedule.
- NWF and partnering organizations will lead multiple hands-on training opportunties for you (no experience required, this is a chance to learn!
- We will also share with you opportunties from other organziations and agencies that will count as Habitat Steward training hours. You can see what is already available by view the Volunteer Trainings and Opportunities Page on this blog. It uses the google calendar tool and is easy!
- You will need a minimum of 24 hours of training courses to become a certified NWF Habitat Steward.
- You have from now till next spring to accumulate those training hours (thought we'd give the gardeners a little off season opportunity)
- In exchange for the traning and resources Habitat Stewards are asked to give and track 50 hours service to wildlife and the outdoors in their community over the course of a year.
- Participate in habitat and wildlife garden improvement projects
- NWF will organize some wildlife restoration projects but you can organize your own and get credit for volunteering too. You can restore habitat in your neighborhood, at a school or through any agencies coordinated efforts.
